Ben Shapiro: The Truth About Thanksgiving

Ben Shapiro takes a look at the true story of Thanksgiving – not the multiculturalism and socialism pushed by leftists every November.

Correction: The Puritans and Pilgrims were distinct groups; all references to the Puritans should be to the Pilgrims.

Sheriffs Plan Huge March on Washington to Defy Obama on Illegal Immigration

The sheriffs are taking a stand and fighting back – bless our brave, law enforcement guys. At least 200 sheriffs are going to protest in DC on December 10th to make it clear to Obama that the borders need to be secured. It has to be done for national and domestic security and to protect Americans, so law enforcement is stepping up and saying loud and clear, we’ve had enough. We do our jobs Mr. President, now do yours.

There was a time when the job of a sheriff was to enforce the law. Down by the border, this has become more or less impossible, especially with the politics of illegal immigration and amnesty.

While the border has always been politically tricky when it comes to law enforcement, the Democratic Party has seen illegal immigration as a cynical way to turn the electoral map in their favor.

Now, a group of sheriffs is fighting back against illegal immigration and plans to go to Washington to tell our president to secure the border. [H/T Breitbart.]

A letter being sent around by Bristol County, Mass. Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson, is attempting to organize American sheriffs to march on the capital on December 10, in order to “encourage immediate action by Congress and the Administration [sic] that will secure border security once and for all.”

According to the dispatch, the unnamed group will be joined by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., Sen. David Vitter, R-La., as well as “other members of Congress” as they publicly seek redress at the Capitol Building.

The aim of the group is, according to the letter, to achieve border security “as the first step in achieving legitimate immigration reform in the future.”

In spite of the recent midterm losses incurred by the Democratic Party, President Obama has vowed to move forward on an executive order to enact a blanket amnesty proposal.

Immigration reform starts with securing the border, then they can ‘enforce’ the law as it was always supposed to be. This unlawful importing of up to 34 million illegals in an effort to change the voting demographic nationwide forever is just pure evil. Impeachment worthy is an understatement. As Oath Keepers says, “Not on our watch!” The sheriffs are honoring their oath to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the United States… why won’t our President do the same? Your oath is to the Constitution and the American people, not to a voting agenda for power.

WARNING: This Ferguson Cop’s Public Message Is Chilling… But Please Listen

It looks increasingly likely that there will be more violence in Ferguson, Missouri — and with an announcement about Officer Darren Wilson’s indictment due very soon, both protesters and law enforcement are on edge.

The grand jury decision on whether or not to send Darren Wilson to trial could easily spark new riots in the battered city.

Ferguson has faced a slew of demonstrations after Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown in August.

Now, one Ferguson police officer is giving chilling but vital advice to people in Missouri. “If you do not have a gun, get one and get one soon,” wrote the unnamed officer on an Internet forum called “St. Louis Coptalk.”

“We will not be able to protect you or your family,” the anonymous officer continued. “It will be your responsibility to protect them. Our gutless commanders and politicians have neutered us. I’m serious, get a gun, get more than one, and keep one with you at all times.”

It has not been confirmed that the person posting this warning is indeed a Ferguson officer; however, the Coptalk forum is often used for discussion by members of law enforcement.

That ominous message from this officer is one of several warnings that have recently come from law enforcement.

According to The Blaze, the Federal Bureau of Investigation recently issued a report which warned that the grand jury decision “will likely be exploited by some individuals to justify threats and attacks against law enforcement and critical infrastructure.”

The FBI message went on to say: “This also poses a threat to those civilians engaged in lawful or otherwise constitutionally protected activities.”

The warning is clear and should be considered by all Americans. When events such as race riots occur, police admit that they are not able to protect everybody.

A high number of law enforcement officers support the right to bear arms for this very reason, and understand that guns are tools that can be used to protect innocent people.

Self defense is the right and responsibility of every citizen — and the Second Amendment was never meant to be about hunting.

It was included in the Bill of Rights to allow law-abiding Americans to protect themselves and their families in times of crisis.

Please share this warning on Facebook and Twitter if you want the law-abiding citizens of Ferguson to be able to defend themselves.

The Reagan amnesty ‘gotcha’ that isn’t

For years, liberals have pointed to President Reagan’s signing of a 1986 amnesty for illegal immigrants as proof the GOP is crazy not to follow suit now, or that Reagan would be a Democrat today, or something. (For some reason, they don’t employ the same logic about JFK and tax cuts.) But House Republicans have held firm on the principle that we must stop the influx of illegal immigrants before making any move to legalize the presence of those already here, and so — unlike what happened in 1986 — Congress has not passed a law on this subject.

Now President Obama is reportedly set to issue an executive order to defer, indefinitely, the prosecution of some 5 million illegal immigrants. The left is anxious to prove this kind of bypass of Congress, too, is something Reagan did. And so a new line of argument is suddenly popping up all over the place. Typical is this version of it from the Associated Press:

“President Barack Obama’s anticipated order that would shield millions of immigrants now living illegally in the U.S. from deportation is not without precedent.

“Two of the last three Republican presidents — Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush — did the same thing in extending amnesty to family members who were not covered by the last major overhaul of immigration law in 1986.

“There was no political explosion then comparable to the one Republicans are threatening now.”

This, the shiny new argument goes, is proof positive the GOP, and particularly tea partyers, are acting in bad faith.

But well down in that AP article, there’s a quote that — unintentionally, I presume — speaks to one very large difference between then and now:

“‘It’s a striking parallel,’ said Mark Noferi of the pro-immigration American Immigration Council. ‘Bush Sr. went big at the time. He protected about 40 percent of the unauthorized population. Back then that was up to 1.5 million. Today that would be about 5 million.’”

If we take Noferi’s numbers at face value and apply some basic math, that would mean the “unauthorized population” has grown from about 3.75 million to 12.5 million during the course of 25 years (Bush issued his executive order in 1989). If so, the number of illegal immigrants has more than tripled during that time while the total U.S. population has grown by about 28 percent.

This is an argument against an amnesty like the one Obama is contemplating, not for it. You see, a big reason for the opposition to another amnesty now — and particularly one that takes place before we’ve proved we can keep new illegal crossings to a bare minimum — is that things didn’t go so well the last time we tried it.

If the “unauthorized population” were to grow at the same rate over the next 25 years, we’d be talking about nearly 42 million people by 2039. At even half the 1989-2014 rate of growth, we’d be talking about some 21 million people.

It’s not that critics of Obama’s plans are being hypocrites now; rather, they’ve learned from what happened in the past and want to avoid a similar mistake in the future. None of this even gets to the question of whether the Reagan and Bush executive orders — issued to address problems with a law that had passed not too long beforehand — are really all that comparable to the present situation.

If you think a rational, enforceable immigration policy is something the U.S. government owes it to its citizens, not to mention the millions of people trying to follow the rules to enter this country, you just might think what happened in the past bolsters, rather than weakens, your case.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable ‘To My Country’ for an amount “up to and including my life.”

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

He was getting old and paunchy

And his hair was falling fast,

And he sat around the Legion,

Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in

And the deeds that he had done,

In his exploits with his buddies;

They were heroes, every one.

And ‘tho sometimes to his neighbors

His tales became a joke,

All his buddies listened quietly

For they knew where of he spoke.

But we’ll hear his tales no longer,

For ol’ Bob has passed away,

And the world’s a little poorer

For a Soldier died today.

He won’t be mourned by many,

Just his children and his wife.

For he lived an ordinary,

Very quiet sort of life..

He held a job and raised a family,

Going quietly on his way;

And the world won’t note his passing,

‘Tho a Soldier died today.

When politicians leave this earth,

Their bodies lie in state,

While thousands note their passing,

And proclaim that they were great.

Papers tell of their life stories

From the time that they were young

But the passing of a Soldier

Goes unnoticed, and UNSUNG.

Is the greatest contribution

To the welfare of our land,

Some jerk who breaks his promise

And cons his fellow man?

Or the ordinary fellow

Who in times of war and strife,

Goes off to serve his country

And offers up his life?

The politician’s stipend

And the style in which he lives,

Are often disproportionate,

To the service that he gives.

While the ordinary Soldier,

Who offered up his all,

Is paid off with a medal

And perhaps a pension, small.

It’s so easy to forget them,

For it is so many time,

That our Bobs and Jims and Johnnys,

Went to battle, but we know,

It is not the politicians

With their compromise and ploys,

Who won for us the freedom,

That our country now enjoys.

Should you find yourself in danger,

With your enemies at hand,

Would you really want some cop-out,

With his ever waffling stand?

Or would you want a Soldier–

His home, his country, his kin,

Just a common Soldier,

Who would fight until the end.

He was just a common Soldier,

And his ranks are growing thin,

But his presence should remind us

We may need his like again.

For when countries are in conflict,

We find the Soldier’s part

Is to clean up all the troubles

That the politicians start.

If we cannot do him honor

While he’s here to hear the praise,

Then at least let’s give him homage

At the ending of his days.

Perhaps just a simple headline,

In the paper that might say:

If you would like to volunteer in the future for UNSUNG PATRIOTS, please send an E-mail to

WOW: This Short Video Explains EVERYTHING You Need to Know About Our UNFAIR Tax System

Though Democrats (and in particular, our Divider-in-Chief) love to talk about the need for the rich to “pay their fair share,” they never seem to address one of the most-unfair institutions facing Americans today: the income tax.

Though the rich and poor alike enjoy the benefits of taxpayer funds, they encounter this burden differently. The rich and poor alike enjoy the benefits of a strong military force, they both have the possibility of sending their children to “free” public schools and government accommodates both the rich and poor alike. In some instances, in fact, the poor have a better experience with taxpayer-funded goodies as the rich are forced to pay for housing, food and medical care for the poor and pay for such things for themselves.

Rather than focus on a flat-tax based on consumption (a national sales tax, for example), the only solutions to emerge from the mouths of liberals is “more taxes, more spending.”

The below video offers a simplified allegory that highlights the inherent lack of fairness to be found in our current, “progressive” income tax system.

Watch and wonder, at the end, how any logical person could defend such a system as “fair.”
